Our Centre Managers - Phillip and Jillian Orme
are delighted to announce that we have appointed a very experienced
couple, Phillip and Jillian Orme as Centre Managers of The Pleasaunce.
Phillip and Jillian both grew up in Sheffield and
met whilst Phillip was serving in the Royal Air Force. They married
in 1981. Phillip and Jillian became Christians together in 1989
and began attending St Edwards Anglican Church in Donington, Leicestershire.
They were involved in Youth and Children's work and were heavily
involved in the Cursillo movement within the Anglican Church.
In 2007 they felt called by God to move into full
time Christian Ministry and began working as Centre Managers in
Pirbright, Surrey for Sandes. This is an organisation which serves
the military community in centres located on military bases across
the UK by providing a permanent Christian presence distributing
Scriptures, offering pastoral support, Bible study, prayer meetings,
and children's Bible Clubs etc. These neutral, non-military spaces
provide a home from home for soldiers and their families who can
face incredible pressures and stressful working lives. Sandes also
looks after soldiers and their families through providing meals,
play clubs, support sessions and toddler groups. For the next nine
and a half years, Phillip and Jillian were able to develop their
gifts of hospitality and compassion working closely with some remarkable
young men and women. They also felt called to lead a fundraising
initiative to generate £350,000 for the total refurbishment
of the Pirbright centre.
'Having felt God telling them that it was time to
move on, they are enjoying the challenge of their new life at The
Pleasaunce. Please pray for them in their exciting new role.
Please pray for them as they enter their exciting
